Oh how I love being a woman. I remember when Kylie sent me these after a shoot we did for my business, and thinking about how much I loved them & how powerful they made me feel, but how I couldn’t use them because they weren’t “professional” enough. But then I started thinking about why I thought that, and why I would let somebody else’s standards shrink who I am. When I think of the women who have made the greatest impact on my life, I think of the women who paved their own path, who had the courage to chase their daydreams, who had the heart to serve others with joy even on their worst days, who didn’t let anybody else’s opinions stop them from living their life on their terms. We were born to nurture and to love, but also be bold, creative, hell-raising, and full of spirit. Only you can define you, and as someone who fought it for a long time, let me tell you what a gift it is to let yourself lean into who you are. Happy Women's History Month! In case you didn't know, every year the National Women's History Alliance designates a theme for the month, and this year's theme is "Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories", which "will encourage the recognition of women, past and present, who have been active in all forms of media and storytelling including print, radio, TV, stage, screen, blogs, podcasts, news, and social media." As a woman who's spent my career telling stories for businesses and brands in just about every medium, I think this is such a powerful reminder of the importance of telling our stories. Our experiences as women, business owners, mothers, friends, and human beings, are our greatest tools for connecting with others, inspiring others, and learning and growing as individuals. Ah, the joys of the ever-changing Instagram algorithm!🙃 The love hate relationship with Instagram and their constant changes runs deep for most people, but at the end of the day, their goal is and always has been to keep people on the app for as long as possible. While it’s no secret that short-term video is the cool new thing, Instagram users were very vocal about the fact that they still wanted to see photos. So at the end of last month, head of Instagram Adam Mosseri posted a story where he stated that: “I think we were over-focused on video in 2022 and pushed ranking too far, and basically showed too many videos and not enough photos. We’ve since balanced, so things like how often someone likes photos versus videos, and how often someone comments on photos versus videos, are roughly equal, which is a good sign that things are balanced.” With this "balancing" initiative, we now have more options for sharing unique content that is true to our brand. One of my favorite things about working with small businesses are the communities that build around them - the communities that build them. I started working with OAK when I started my business three years ago, and through a pandemic, major business shifts, and just a whole lot of life - we've been through a lot together. Last weekend they had their very first event, and it was the sweetest reminder of why small businesses do what we do. The little girl who has spent her allowance buying brass animals at OAK for years who got to "work" with the "big girls". The fellow small business owners who showed up with last minute touches, or self-care kits for after. The friends who show up early to iron your shirt and talk you out of your head. The same customers who are always first in line to every event. The coworkers who feel like family. The magic of all the plans in your head finally coming together, and the excitement of other people getting to enjoy it with you. Running a small business isn't always pretty, or easy, but it's the people you get to connect with, and the people you get to serve, that make it all more than worth it. 🤍

New website for @littleyellowdoor! 🌈 Paige & I had been Instagram friends for awhile when she came to me with something I hear all the time from the women I work with: "I know I need a website, but I've put it off because I just don't feel like my business is legit or big enough yet to deserve one." Ladies, as a fellow small business owner who started her own business at 23, I know firsthand how real that imposter syndrome can be, feeling like you're not qualified enough, like you have to check certain boxes to be "legit" and respected in your field. setting your OOO like 👋🏼 taking a *real* vacation when you own a business and/or work in social media can be TOUGH, but it's so important for your mental health and resetting your creative juices. here are a few things that have helped me set myself up for success and *actually* take a break from work and social media for things like holiday weekend's: 1. Plan and batch schedule your content in advance so you don't have to think about it for a few days. I usually have my assets organized somewhere I can access them on my phone just in case. 2. Set expectations with your team or clients by letting them know you'll be gone / unreachable to avoid any miscommunications. Touch base before you leave, and set a time to reconnect when you return. Set a point of contact person for the if applicable. 3. Turn off notifications, or delete yours apps for the weekend so you aren't tempted to "just check real quick". 4. Save sharing your vacation for when you return so you can really just enjoy the moments. When I first started my business, my mindset was never “can I make this work?”, it was “how am I going to make this work?” I had quit my full-time job, had no idea how to run a business, had no prospects, no funds to invest, but I knew what my skills and my passions were, and who I wanted to help, and that was enough for me. I reached out to friends for advice, I put it out there in my network that I was offering digital services, and watched a whole lot of videos. I nannied and worked as a promo model to supplement my income as I got started, and within a few months, I was running my own business full-time, and even able to hire contractors to help. I hear from so many clients that the biggest thing holding them back from going all-in on their business is fear, but I’m here to tell you that your mindset is so, so powerful. Even since I was little, my passions have been creating, and serving others, and I started this business with the intention of helping others bring their ideas to life through thoughtful and intentional digital media. My passion for design started when I was 9 years old, and created business cards for my "Ana Banana Babysitting" business, followed by a "Why I Need a Cellphone" brochure designed on Microsoft Word to sell my parents on getting me my first phone (it worked). I always knew I wanted a career that helped others, and after quickly discovering I didn't have the stomach for nursing 🙈 I knew I had to find a new route, and I could never have dreamed of a career I love more! Instagram STAYS updating... here's what you need to know for your business 📲 ⚡️ Say goodbye to swipe-up's, and hello to link stickers! This is now available for accounts with more than 10k followers, and is being trialled for smaller accounts to hopefully eventually allow accounts of any size to add links to their stories. ⚡️ Accidentally cut off you text, or don't like the shot you chose for your reel cover? You will soon be able to update the cover on a reel you've already posted. They're rolling this out slowly, so you may already have access to it! ⚡️This one is not yet available in all regions, but will allow you to reshare content to your stories directly from your story screen. I think it could be a great way to make sharing feed posts with a photo background easier! Instagram is constantly trying to improve their user experience, and while we may not always *love* the updates, learning to work with them can have great benefits in the long run! Reminder: you deserve more credit than you give yourself. As someone who owns my own business, and works with primarily female small business owners, I am no stranger to the idea of "imposter syndrome" - that feeling that you're under-qualified, and never doing enough. I've been having one of those weeks where I feel overwhelmed and unorganized, and it's easy for that to turn into "what the heck am I even doing?". But as I was working on my website today, reading some of my statistics like "100% of clients are referrals, clients in 13 countries", I was reminded of just how much I've done in the last few years. How many women I've empowered, how many small businesses I've helped grow, how much I've grown. I'm not sure why it's so much easier to tell yourself "you're a hot mess" than it is to tell yourself "you're doing frickin great", but here's my little reminder to myself and you, that you are in fact, doing great. 💪 Give yourself some more credit, you deserve it. xx, Ana 📸: @dearfloyd

The best times to post on Instagram per day, according to 35M global Instagram posts, are: * Monday: 5AM * Tuesday: 6AM * Wednesday: 6AM * Thursday: 5AM * Friday: 6AM * Saturday: 6AM * Sunday: 6AM In a way this makes sense, because there is less competition earlier in the day, plus you show up on everyone’s first scroll of the day. By being one of the first posts each day, you’re giving your audience the best chance to see you content. As far as best days to post, Saturday and Sunday have the highest average engagement rate for posts published around 6AM. Posts published Wednesday between 10AM – 4PM and Thursday 9PM – 11PM receive the lowest engagement rates on average, making them the worst days to post on Instagram. Surprising? new site for @themindfulblonde ✖️ When I started working with Danielle a few years ago, we created a simple site to host her health coaching information and blog, but as her and her business have grown, she needed a new space to share all of her incredible resources for motherhood, health, mindfulness and more. Her new site allows her audience to easily access her recipes, purchase her ebook, shop her affiliate links, and connect with her on a deeper level. It also gives potential collaborators a place to see her press features and press kit, and easily send her a pitch. I’m so proud of how this came together, and excited to see it continue to grow with even more community features coming very soon!
